“Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development.”
As an educator, I strongly believe that our student’s growth and development is dependent on us, the teacher, to make sure all students are successful and feel accomplished in their learning. Something that I am strongly passionate about as a new teacher is that I want to target all learning styles to students who learn differently than their peers. I will target my lessons around various learning styles, so that all students feel understood and that their individual learning needs are being met. Of course, I realize how much work and time this will take on myself personally as there will be many adjustments and modifications to various lessons but again, as an educator it is the goal to have your classroom be student centered. As an educator, my assessments will provide an understanding for not only myself, but for the student so we both acknowledge their strengths and celebrate their development throughout the school year. If there are weaknesses in any area, we as a team will create a plan and have open conversation on how I as the teacher can help them best succeed. As the teacher, I will monitor growth and assistance where needed and make modifications that seems best fitting for greater potential. I know that when I reflect on my own educational journey, if I was provided with various materials or strategies, I may have enjoyed math more than I did when only completing assignments through a textbook. I want to ensure that my students have the support and tools they need to have the opportunities to learn in ways that best fit their needs. I am passionate about checking in with my students to make sure they are feeling confident and supported in their education journey. Assessments will be done both summative and formatively to have a deep understanding of student success and weakness to develop growth within their learning, in addition I will have multiple tools and resources in my classroom that will aid to students learning needs. My role as an educator will always be to help students grow throughout their school year in my classroom, and to set them up for success for years to come.
